Social Week

This has been a busy week for me and mom.

My aunt Gina and Uncle Mike went out of town, and mom thought it would be fun for me to have my girlfriend, Ashley, come play with me for a few days. At first she was a bit shy, but we got some bitey face in.
Ashley is very sweet.
Rare photo of Ashely. She usually hides when camera comes out.
Then mom went away one night to watch another friend's dog. This is Sophie, a Silver-Dappled Doxie. Mom just loves saying that over and over. Sophie came by to meet me one day, but she doesn't like visitors at her house, so mom stays there alone.

While Dad was taking home Ashley, Mom came by and picked me up to go with her on a ride-along with her new elderly client. I got to go in and make some new friends. This is Ron. He was very happy to meet me. He had just finished lunch and I was offering to help clean his face.

On the way home, we stopped to pick up my other girlfriend, Scout. My Aunt Diane was going camping, so Scout came to stay with us for the weekend. Scout is very high-energy. She liked all the bones I had laying around. Mom and dad came home and found one of my toys destuffed. I haven't done that for a long time, so they instantly knew it was the girl, Scout. HAH!

Scout did surgery on my toy stuff bone.

One of our rare calm moments.
Over the weekend, Mom left again to watch another friends little girls. Mom said it was a huge difference going from me to these ladies.
Shirley and Lily
Shirley and Lily get quite excited over everything. Especially food.

All this socializing really is wearing me out. Mom came home and had Scout go to a time out so I could rest.

This is one of those times I am so glad I cannot hear. If you listen closely, you can hear me a bit too, but not over Girl Scout.

Lazy Sunday-- Oh yeh!

Won't You Be My Friend?

BARK! Hi Everyone... Mom has been busy helping take care of another furry while her parents are out of town, so I haven't been able to get on here to keep you updated. But rest easy, I have not been neglected. Her and dad are still getting me plenty of exercise and attention.

I am making new friends everywhere I go. This week was full of new meetings. First we went to the dog park. Mom is still always on the alert, as she has seen and heard stories of other doggies not being very nice. So far, I have shown her that I back off and leave the scene when a scuffle starts, but she still wants to keep me safe, so she doesn't go sit down with the other parents. Her and dad stay near me, to help navigate in case I don't "hear" another dog telling me to back off (which happened once). During my last visit and this one, I made friends with some bulldogs. This time, we were playing just fine, but then another dog came right in and scooped him away and wouldn't let me play with him anymore. No worries, I just went back to sniffing around the park.

For the past couple months there have been some funny looking BIG birds visiting the neighbors. I saw them during our walk one morning. They got scared of me, and flew up on a roof. I wasn't sure what they were. This week we saw them again a little closer. They didn't seem to be afraid of me this time. I laid down very calmly and watched them as they came closer. But when I stood up again, they went the other way. Not sure what to think about those birds. Mom says they get real pretty sometimes, when they show off their feathers.

The other night, I got to meet a good friend of mom and dads and her furry, Fergie. Fergie was not too keen on me coming into her territory, so we went for a long walk together. In no time, she was walking right next to me and giving me little nose kisses. I just kept moving forward and she stayed right beside me the whole time. Then we went into her yard to visit. I tried to get her to run and play with me, but her mom said she doesn't know how to play with other furries. She just kept chasing a dumb ball. I would run up to her, and she would turn away. Then I would run, but she wouldn't follow. Mom said I need to give her some time to learn to play.

So far, no one can play and keep up with me like my girlfriend, Scout. She runs and runs with me forever.

I Got My Own Blog!

BARK! I am so excited to meet you all. My name is Count Monte Cristo. Mommy likes royal names and that is how my name came about. Let me share a little bit about me:

I am 2 years old. I come from Mid-Coast area of California. My first mom and dad got me as a puppy. They were a military family. For some reason mom and dad decided to not stay together anymore and they could not keep me either. So my foster mom Joanne came and met me and took me home to stay with her and her family. Little did I know, that my forever mom and dad were already learning all about me. Mom Joanne was sending them lots of pictures of me, while she got me healthy and ready for them. After a couple weeks, foster mom Amanda drove up from Southern California and picked me up to take me to my new mom and dad. I stayed with her big family for a couple days. I sure made a lot of new friends. Then the day came for me to meet my new forever family. Everyone was so excited. I came in and my new dad walked me around the house. Then I got to meet Cinderella kitty in her safe house. Then my new dad took me out to the back of my new home and walked me around.

This is the first picture mom got of us. She said we both looked very handsome and regal and I fit right into my new name.

Mom and dad were very cautious about me meeting Cinderella. They said I could stay forever, if we got along. So I was on my best behavior. When she came out of her safe house, I was awed by how pretty she was. I just watched her a lot. She would come over and sniff me, but I would just sit and watch her. Mom was so happy to see how good I was. Finally I leaned forward to give her a lick, she gave me a swipe across my nose and a new friendship was formed. We get along great. I love my kitty sister and she loves me.

Dad is just amazed at how tall I am. When I stand straight up I can look him straight in the eye!

I already have a girlfriend. Mom's best friend has a pup named Scout. She is a few months older than me. But we get along real good. So far she is the only one that can keep up with my puppy energy. We run and run, chase each other, show off for each other and play licky face. Scout is a lot of fun!

Mom has a special business just for elderly hoomans. She helps them do the little chores that are hard to do when they get older. I have gone to work with her and also visited places where they live. I love everyone, all ages and all types of fur. Mom is so happy that I can go just about anywhere.

Mom says my forever bark-day is June 5. It has not even been 2 months yet, but we already feel like a long time family. I am happy in my new home and mom and dad said I filled a big hole in their heart. I had big paw prints to follow, but I am making my own prints in their home and hearts.

I look forward to making more friends in the new blog world.
